Working with older children through young adults
As we get older, we are less inclined to use play as our primary mode of communication. When working with older children, adolescents, and young adults, I take their lead. Play is always available, but sometimes that looks like using fidgets, art, or being silly.
As we develop cognitively, therapy shifts as well. With Paige, the focus remains on healing and creating a safe space to explore experiences, feelings, and beliefs. We do this with talking through a variety of modalities, sometimes with art, and sometimes a combination of things.
